Choosing the Freshman Squad is often the most difficult task we face. A young man changes a lot in 3 years and we know this. Our goal is to keep 16-18 players who show athleticism, baseball skills and have great attitudes! If we can find these three elements, we celebrate! Of course, proper classroom behavior is a must, so we also look to keep kids who are dedicated students & citizens of U-High if that is a deciding factor.
	The Junior Varsity is comprised of sophomores and juniors who we feel have a future on our Varsity squad next year. The bulk of these players are sophomores, but we may keep juniors who we feel are a year away and in our future plans. Juniors who can not start on the J.V. team are usually let go. We also try to keep this team at around 16-18. Occasionally, pitchers who are on Varsity will come down to pitch for this team. We occasionally bring up players to play on Varsity if they demonstrate Varsity-level skills while playing for the J.V. team.
	The Varsity is set up to find the 16-18 best players at our school. If a sophomore makes Varsity, they must start or we will keep them on J.V. Juniors need to start or be an immediate backup. Seniors also need to start or be an immediate backup to make this team.
